Eileen Beltzner

SCC, BA, MSW, RSW

Eileen Beltzner has been a child and family therapist, a registered social worker, a special care counsellor and an internationally known certified Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) teacher and trainer.

​Eileen spent the first twenty-five years of her career as a special care counsellor working as a parent-infant therapist, a pre-school teacher, and a curriculum program developer for kids with special needs. Eileen later moved her attention to championing the cause, along with several other like-minded people from around the world, to increase awareness of maternal mental health issues and to develop supports and services for these postpartum families nationally and internationally.

The following twenty-five years, as a registered social worker and child and family therapist, Eileen worked in a children’s assessment and treatment centre, in her own private psychotherapy practice, in a major hospital’s employee wellness program, and as a certified mindful self-compassion teacher and trainer. Eileen facilitated MSC teaching and training programs, online and in person, for adults, teens, tweens and wellness professional from around the world. In addition to these activities, for several years Eileen was a senior faculty member at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto, Canada.

​Eileen has authored two previous books: The Handbook for First- Time Parents (1987), which aims to reduce the physical, emotional, and psychological stress new parents experience after becoming parents, and How to Tame the Tumbles the Mindful Self-Compassionate Way (2019), which aims to introduce parents and children, through story, to adult-sized and child-sized MSC concepts and practices. She lives with her family in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
